Liposculpture Recovery: What Should You Expect?
Recovery after liposculpture is a process, not a single date on the calendar. Your body continues changing for several weeks as swelling decreases and the treated areas gradually adapt to their new contour.
During the first several days, swelling, bruising, tightness and discomfort are expected. Compression garments are commonly incorporated into postoperative care, and walking is gradually encouraged according to medical instructions.
These early changes are part of the healing process and should not be interpreted as your final result.
Your contour continues evolving
You may notice improvement relatively early, but swelling continues to decrease over the following weeks while the tissues gradually adapt to their new shape.

How Long Should You Stay in Colombia After Liposculpture?
For an international patient undergoing significant body contouring, I generally recommend planning your trip so that you are not forced to leave immediately after surgery.
A stay of approximately 8 to 10 days in Medellín can provide time for:
- Arrival and in-person evaluation
- Preoperative requirements
- Surgery
- The first days of recovery
- Postoperative appointments
- Evaluation before your return flight
Some patients may benefit from staying longer depending on the extent of surgery, how they recover or whether procedures are combined.
Your return date should therefore have some flexibility.
When Should I Arrive in Medellín?
Do not plan to land in Colombia and undergo surgery a few hours later.
International patients should normally arrive before the scheduled procedure so there is time to settle in, attend the in-person evaluation and complete any pending preoperative requirements.
For many patients, arriving one or two days before surgery provides a more organized experience.
Your specific travel itinerary is coordinated according to your surgical date and medical plan.
Should You Travel with a Companion?
For a body contouring procedure such as liposculpture, having a trusted adult accompany you is strongly recommended during the early recovery period.
Immediately after surgery, routine tasks can become surprisingly difficult.
A companion can help with:

- Getting in and out of bed
