The Procedure

What Is a Breast Lift (Mastopexy)?

A breast lift — mastopexy — raises and reshapes breasts that have lost firmness and position from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, or age. Dr. Delgado removes excess skin, lifts and tightens the breast tissue, and repositions the nipple-areola to a natural height. It can be performed on its own, combined with implants for added volume, or with a reduction if the breasts are too large.

What a breast lift corrects

Sagging breasts (ptosis) Downward-pointing nipples Loss of upper-pole fullness Stretched or enlarged areolas Post-pregnancy & weight-loss changes Breast asymmetry

Techniques Dr. Delgado uses

The right incision depends on how much lift you need: periareolar (around the areola) for mild sagging, vertical / lollipop for moderate, and anchor / inverted-T for significant lifting. Each can be done with or without implants, and scars are placed to stay hidden by a bra or swimwear and fade over time.

The honest answer: safety comes from the surgeon and the facility, not the country. Here’s how Dr. Delgado protects you.

Support after you go home

Your recovery doesn’t end at the airport. The team stays reachable for questions and remote follow-up once you’re back in the U.S. or Canada.

Questions From U.S. & Canadian Patients

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a breast lift make my breasts bigger?
No. A breast lift raises and reshapes your existing tissue for a perkier, more youthful position — it doesn’t add volume. If you also want more fullness (especially in the upper breast), Dr. Delgado can combine the lift with an implant. If your breasts are too large, it can be paired with a reduction.
Will I have visible scars?
Every lift leaves some scarring, but the pattern depends on how much lift you need (around the areola, vertical, or anchor). Scars are placed to stay hidden by a bra or swimwear and typically fade significantly over 6–12 months with proper care.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?
Many women can breastfeed after a mastopexy, but any breast surgery can affect milk supply. If you’re planning future pregnancies or breastfeeding, tell Dr. Delgado during your consultation so he can choose the most preserving technique for you.
Is it safe to fly home after a breast lift?
Most patients are cleared to fly about 5–7 days after surgery, once they’re comfortable and off prescription pain medication. We plan your return flight with this window in mind and review it at your post-op check before you leave.
Will my insurance cover it?
A cosmetic breast lift isn’t covered by insurance in the U.S., Canada, or Colombia. That’s a big reason international patients choose Medellín — paying out of pocket here costs far less than at home for comparable, board-certified care.
How many days should I plan to stay in Colombia?
Plan for about 8–10 days from arrival to flying home. That covers your in-person pre-op assessment, surgery, the early recovery days, and a final check-up. Some patients stay two weeks for extra comfort.
How do I get a price and get started?
Book a private virtual consultation with Dr. Delgado. He’ll review your goals and photos, confirm your candidacy, and provide a personalized quote — every plan is tailored to your anatomy, so there’s no fixed online price.
